Hannibal, S2 Ep 13

Hannibal, S2 Ep 13

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfHannibal now ends, here is the review for the last episode of season two, Mizumono. (More like Mizumo-nonono-nope-nopity-nope-big-bag-of-nope am I right ?) Anyway, without any further ado, here is the review.

Mizumono

"He'll try to kill you in the kitchen... for convenience. It makes it easier for him to prepare the tartare."
So, we finally arrive in the moment where Jack and Will are planning to catch Hannibal, while he tries to leave with Will at the same time (he still believes he killed Freddie Lounds). We can see with the ticking clock during the whole episode that time is now counted for Hannibal, Jack and Will. Alana is finally involved in the situation (which is good) and Crawford's unit is now on the line to catch the Ripper. The judge doesn't agree with their borderline-illegal methods, but now it is too late : they have been playing a game with Hannibal, and now it's time to close the trap on him...

"We're all desperate for a little hope."
In this episode, we see Bella's situation deteriorating because of her lung cancer. We've seen earlier that Jack doesn't want to give up on her, and she confesses to Hannibal that the only reason for her stay is that she doesn't want to leave him and give up on him like when she tried to commit suicide. There is a parallel with Freddie Lounds who talks about cancer and miracles and her "ressurection" (she's supposed to be dead), and Jack's will to find a cure to save his wife. After all, nobody wants to give up on the people they love, am I right ?

"I let you know me... see me. I gave you a rare gift, but you didn't want it.
- Didn't I ?"
And here come the feels ! Earlier in the show, Will asks himself why Hannibal didn't want to kill him like he killed everybody who discovered the truth, why he had let him "see" him and his true nature. He had confessed to Bedelia that he wanted a friend in Will because "they are alike". In my opinion, there is more to that, but it's personal (and let's be honest, I ship a lot of gay ships, so...). Anyway, when Hannibal told Will that he just wanted to leave with him and Abigail (who was still alive, I don't know why but she survived), it reminds me that earlier in the show, Hannibal and Will both considered Abigail to be their daughter (weren't they her legal guardians though ?). Ah, such dads. And such a sad ending in blood. My life is destroyed FOREVER. *ugly sobbing in corner*

Overall impression : A life-crushing finale for an excellent season, and the wait for the third season will be long, VERY long...

Okay that's it ! This post now officially closes #TwoWeeksOfHannibal ! See you soon for something new... who knows what's next !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !
