Broadchurch, S1 Ep8

Broadchurch, S1 Ep8

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, here it is, the very last post for the first series of Broadchurch, which closes this first week in #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch with a #DoubleSunday ! So here it comes !

Episode 8

"Is it someone we know ?
- It's Joe Miller."
And here it is, folks, the murderer ! He's defenitely not the person we were expecting, someone close to Danny (as the man who sees ghosts said), and Ellie's husband. We can see that this discovey is devastating for everybody, not only for Ellie herself who threw a tantrum in the cell where he was maintained, but for the Latimers who now hate the Millers, not only Joe who killed their son but also Ellie who's suspected to be an accomplice, or at the very least they made her feel guilty for "not seeing anything", to a point where she doesn't believe in herself anymore because she thinks she failed as a cop to see the murder who slept with her and spent time not only with her and their two sons, but also with the Latimers, the family that got their son killed. And now, we can wonder how the Millers will survive with, maybe, a backlash from the population and the media, but also with themselves, without Joe, who will maybe be sentenced for the rest of his life...

"What's that ? How did everyone know ? Was this you ?
- I passed the word."
We can also see in this episode that since Danny's murderer was arrested, the Latimers can have a proper funeral, and there was also a commemoration (that was the part where I cried like a little baby, because Beth "saw" her son in the distance, and when she realised that people cared about her, it was so emotional, just thinking about it makes me want to cry even more), and the light that carries on, even after Danny's death, shows that it's really important to show proper condoleances to grieving people, and maybe, the depression part that we've seen in the previous episode is about to end, that maybe, the last stage of grieving, the acceptance, is now beginning, as Beth "lets her son go", after more than two months of grieving. She obviously will never forget Danny, but maybe, she will try, like the rest of the family, to accept the facts and go on with her life.

"DS Miller ? I'm so sorry for what you're going through. Don't talk to anyone."
Last but not least, now the journalists have to go in order for Broadchurch to go back to a normal life, even all this exposure will always leave marks in everybody, a sort of tension that will never fully go away, and the fact that many secrets were revealed recently show that maybe, there are things that are hidden from everybody else (and maybe more secrets), and that the relationships between people are changed forever. The fact that Ellie Miller will probably won't be able to see the Latimers ever again without being treated as "the murderer's wife, thus accomplice or oblivious to the situation, then worst cop ever", that Alec Hardy finally told the truth about Sandbrooke, and maybe justice will be given to him, but his health problems will maybe come back, that the Latimers will also probably be remembered as "that family that lost Danny and shook an entire city just for that ", and many more. Will the situation ever go back to normal in Broadchurch ? Possibly not...

Overall impression : EXCELLENT ending of series, very moving, REALLY shows the aspects of a TRUE investigation and the consequences on people (that we NEVER see in other cops show, that I don't watch that much). Overall, EXCELLENT series, would recommend 10000000000%.

Okay, that's it for today ! And with a #DoubleSunday we end this first week of Broadchurch. Tomorrow will be the beginning of the second week of #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch. I hope to see you there quite soon !

And as usual, our last word : KIDNEYS !

Broadchurch, S1 Ep7

Broadchurch, S1 Ep7

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch is about to end its first week, here is the review for the seventh episode in the first series. So without any further ado, here it comes !

Episode 7

"Then why is Susan saying otherwise ? [about Danny's murder] What's she got to harass you about ?
- She says she's my mum."
In this episode, as we learn more about Susan's story about an abusive husband that accused her of helping him in the crimes committed to their children, which cost her the loss of their custody, we also learn that Nigel is her son and that she had "harassed" him because she wanted to know him (even if I have to admit that she's a little bit crazy, creepy and impulsive). Nigel is accused by his owm mom of Danny's murder (why ? It is not necessarily explained in the episode), and is held in custody in order to know if he's the murderer or not. But is he the murderer or is it only Susan's vengeance (or something else, I don't know) ?

"She decieved you ? This detective sergeant.
- She was my wife. We have a daughter and I didn't want her knowing that about her mother.
- So you took the blame."
As Alec Hardy teaches us about Sandbrooke, he tells us the sroty about the fact that his wife lost evidence with which they could have won the trial, but instead, he had taken the blame and lost all respect from everybody, even his own daughter, just to save his wife's reputation. During years, he has endured the hatred from the press and he now wants to tell the truth to the Herald, in order to make things clear, with the only condition that his wife is not named clearly in the article. Also, we can see that these journalists just want to make some scooprs out of anything remotely sensational ; in this case, Alec's heart problems. They don"t respect people's lives and privacy as long as they can make money out of it, which in my opinion, is disgusting.

"Where's his computer ?
- El, it's half two in the morning."
We can also see in that episode that Tom's computer is quite important. Indeed, he deleted important messages from Danny and wants to be sure that the information is never found again. He had even asked the Reverend (who teaches computer classes) if this kind of information can be found even if "deleted" by someone. As Paul Coates had said that you could still find them, Tom had tried to destroy his computer, and now, the investigation needs it in order to save the case. But will ther find the information or is it too late ? They may find it on Danny's phone since they have it...

Overall impression : Another great episode, can't wait for the finale ! Also, the killer may be a surprise for all, so... warning !

Okay, that's it for this post ! #DoubleSunday will keep going today with another post a little bit later ! And in general, I will see you soon with another post !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Broadchurch, S1 Ep6

Broadchurch, S1 Ep6

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch keeps going, here is the review for the sixth episode in the first series. So, without any further ado, let's get started, shall we ?

Episode 6

"Listen, that man is toxic. They lost evidence, they ballsed up the trial. My daughter's killer is still out there because of that man. Do not believe anything he says."
In this episode, we can see that Beth talks to a woman who lost her daughter in Sandbrook and she tries to talk to her in order to cope with her grief. She even wishes there were a way, a book about how to cope with an experience that nobody should have ever, which is to outlive her own child that she had spent years and years protecting and educating for him to have the best adult life possible. Chloe, Danny's sister, can't cope with this new information and had to leave school to relax with her boyfriend Dean. Mark's friend and coworker keeps asking questions about his health and it looks like he's not okay even if he says the opposite. And actually, there is no book about grieving because it is such a personal and subjective experience that can't be translated into words, which is the reason for all the angst and feelings in the family and the town right now.

"People turned to me. People who wouldn't think about religion. They asked me to speak. They asked me to listen. They needed me."
Another great intervention in this episode is Paul Coates' one, when he did his sermon about Jack Marshall committing suicide. And he was right : Alec Hardy, as a detective, has to be the most objective possible, but it means that he also has to suspect everybody and digs secrets from the past of inhabitants that should have maybe be left behind. The Reverend is now a suspect since he goes to Alcoholic Anonyms, just like Jack Marshall had been suspected because of his affair with a minor a few years back, which had led to his suicide. And maybe, the inhabitants of Broadchurch are tired of this investigation and want the murderer caught to try to go back to their normal lives.

"Come here, Tom. I want to show you something."
In this episode, Susan Wright comes closer and closer to Tom Miller, Ellie's son, as we've seen during the last couple of episodes. She tries to befriend him by offering him the possibility of walking her dog, Vince, who is really important to her. However, she gives Danny's skateboard to Tom who gives it to his mom. The police are contacted, Susan is arrested. We can now wonder what was her role in Danny's murder, and if she's innocent, why would she have kept the skateboard for herself during such a long time ? Why giving it to Tom, especially now that everybody is suspected ? I think we will learn more quite soon...

Overall impression : Another really great episode, the end is near (as there are only two episodes left for this series), and my favourite scene is the one when Alec tries to call his daughter, aged 15. Really stroke a chord about my dad and I cried again while watching this scene.

Okay, that's it for today, I hoped you enjoyed this post ! I will see you soon with another one !

And as usual, our last word : KIDNEYS !

Broadchurch, S1 Ep5

Broadchurch, S1 Ep5

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch keeps going, here is the review for the fifth episode of the first series. Without any further ado, here it comes !

Episode 5

"Police are hoping the reconstruction will jog people's memories for vital evidence surrounding Danny's death."
In the beginning of this episode, there is a reconstruction of the night when Danny Latimer disappeared before his body was found on the beach at Broadchurch. Even if they don't have a lot of evidence and possible suspects, the police are hoping to have some testimonies quite soon as the CCTV footage is rare and thus, evidence was erased because of the tape system that erases to record new footage. The investigation seems quite complicated as many people still have secrets and some people are suspicious (especially Susan Wright for the moment).

"You should get away from here, Jack. It's not safe."
We can also see in this episode that Jack's life was put in the media and the press. He is considered as a paedophile even if he only had one affair with a girl that he married and had a kid with later on (which shows that she might have been consentent, even if having a relationship with an under-sixteen-year-old is statutory rape), and now that he had served for his crime, people still blame him and force him to commit suicide because he can't stand the loss of his own son that he had tried to replace with affection towards other boys. The media manipulating his story to sell more newspaper is atrocious and things should have been left in the past, however, people are quick to judge without thinking about the consequences of their actions.

"But I can't, can I ? I don't want to lose you, Beth. But I think I already have.
- I'm pregnant."
Finally, Beth tells Mark about the pregnancy. Mark wants her to keep the baby but she doesn't want to because she only wants her Danny, and not another baby that in her opinion would replace him. As we've seen earlier, she keeps drinking alcohol which is bad for her baby, she doesn't seem to care anymore and her only feeling right now is anger. However, she tries to bargain once again in the end of the episode by looking at pictures of her son when he was a baby and going to see in some boxes some toys he used to play with when we was younger. But that doesn't really seem to help as she only gets nostalgic, just like Mark, about the time when everything was easy, before Danny was killed actually.

Overall impression : Another great moral lesson about the human nature and trying to cope with tragedies, it's another really great episode.

Okay, that's it for today's post, I hoped you enjoyed it ! I will see you soon with another one !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Broadchurch, S1 Ep4

Broadchurch, S1 Ep4

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch keeps going, let's go for the review of the fourth episode in the first series. So here it is !

Episode 4

"I can help. But I need to be taken seriously, and that's not happening right now."
In this episode, the guy who says he has a contact with the dead goes again to talk to Beth about the boat that he had already talked about previously. Now that the boat has been found and that Danny's hair was also found in it, will this man be taken seriously ? How could he scientifically know and prove what he says ? Will he find other things before the police ? And last but not least, what is his intent to talk to the family and how could he convince the police of what he says ? After all, he's already been convincted for several crimes, can he be trusted or is he lying ? And last but not least, will there be more things to be find in the boat, even if he was burnt down ?

"You're Susan.
- Yeah.
- Or is it Elaine ?"
In this episode, we can see two new suspects : Jack Marshall, who had previously accused of sexual offences on minors, and Susan Wright, who has Danny's skateboard and who lied about Mark Latimer and his work in the house where Danny was killed. In the first case, we can see someone who lies to avoid talking about her private life and hides her true identity somehow by being very reluctant to answering the police's questions, and in the second case, we can see a man who has committed crimes, did his service for the society, and is still harassed by a lot of people years after that, as if they didn't want to let it go away. What will we learn about these two characters in the future ? Will Jack be accused of Danny's murder even if he talked to the family to tell them that he considers himself innocent ? Will the police find out about Susan and the skateboard ?

"The reason Danny's death isn't getting proper attention is it's not the right profile."
In this episode, the journalist from the Herald comes back to charge and wants to write an article about Danny's death from his family's point of view. We can see again that these journalists just want to be the first ones to publish something about a new scoop to sell more and make more money and make other journalists from other newspapers jealous of them. They don't respect the family's intimacy and they even follow them to take photographs from their house when Jack comes to explain that he didn't kill Danny. They even follow them to church when they go to hear the sermon ! That's also the reason for which Alec Hardy hates them so much : why are they talking so much about the story at Sandbrooke ? What happened there ? What kind of illness does he have and how is it going to affect his job and work in general ? We will know more soon...

Overall impression : A really great episode, lots of tension and new suspects, not a single opportunity to make the truth clear has been forgotten. A really good time, once again.

Okay, that's it for today, I hoped you enjoyed this post, and I'll see you soon for another one !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Broadchurch, S1 Ep3

Broadchurch, S1 Ep3

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch keeps going, here's the review for the third episode of the first series. Without any further ado, here it is !

Episode 3

"Mark Latimer, I'm arresting you for obstructing a murder inquiry."
In this episode, as Mark Latimer has no alibi (the lodger denied the fact that he has repaired the plumbing when he said he was, he didn't want to say with whom he was on the night of the murder, Danny's boat was found on his boat, he admitted it), he is the number one suspect and was only discharged when the woman working at the hotel told the police that she had been with him for sex (because Danny's sister told her to say something, even to her and only her). Mark told the police that he was ashamed, but in fact he really isn't, which shows that his couple must have problems if he has to resort to cheating instead of dealing with their problems. And now, with Danny's murder, everything has been made worse...

"I have a message for you. It's from Danny."
Here comes the psychic again ! He says he has some information about Danny and his murder and wants to talk to Beth, who refuses it. After all, she's mourning her own son and it must be really difficult to hear any speech coming from anybody. After the second stage of mourning, here comes the third one, the bargaining. In this case, she just wants a message from Danny, to tell her and reassure her about the fact that he's safe, wherever he is. There are heavy connotations to religion as, in my opinion, the area is quite religious or at the very least influenced by the local church. After all, Broadchurch is a quite small and rural village, and possibly quite conservative.

"Look at your community from the outside.
- I can't be outside and I don't want to be."
Here again, we can see the different points of view from Ellie and Alec as their methids of working are different. After all, as I previously said, Ellie lives in the community and has a subjective point of view. I'm not saying that Alec does a better job by trying to be objective as much as he can (he too has demons from his past, a previous case that even the psychic reminds him), but we can have quite big surprises from now as everybody is a suspect once again. After all, the lodger might have lied about something. She has Danny's skateboard. Mark's friend and colleague knew about the night when Dannys was killed (when he was cheating on his wife in a parking). Tom (Ellie's son and Danny's best friend) deleted messages and texts that could have been used as evidence for something. And maybe there are more people who know about Danny's murder. After all, everybody know everybody in this town, am I right ?

Overall impression : Another really great episode which shows (and I haven't seen that in many detective/cops' show) the grief of the family when it comes to a loss and the difficulty of leading a proper investigation. It's not like in these American shows where everything is solved in 45 minutes...

Okay, that's it for today, I hoped you enjoyed this post ! See you very soon for another one !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Broadchurch, S1 Ep2

Broadchurch, S1 Ep2

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfBroadchuch keeps going (even if I'm currently busy in the mountain's trip until Thursday), here is the review for the series one, episode two ! So let's get started, shall we ?

Episode 2

"I'm pregnant.
- Have you told anyone ?"
So, the first very important information of this episode is the fact that Beth is now pregnant, only a while after the murder of her son. I am wondering how she could keep another child while she's mourning the loss of her son... It must be really difficult, as she's now going (as well as her entire family) into the second stage of mourning, anger. The tension among the Latimers has been increasing to a point where even the Reverend's help is denied (Beth tries to make him go away and Mark goes himself to punch him in the face just for showing his support). The grandma, however, tries to make him understand that it's not his fault.

"Don't say that.
- Don't say what ?
- No need to worry.
- Why not ?
- Don't reassure people. Let them talk."
We can see that in this particular scene how Ellie and Alec work differently. While Ellie tries to reassure people that she knows because she's been living with them in the same city for years, Alec wants the job to be done, and fast. He's manifesting some defiance towards the habitants of Broadchurch, that he treats all as suspects. This is the beginning of a conflict that had started in the first episode and will surely continue in the series... Ellie's compassionate methods and Alec's harsh ones are not really making the best team for the moment. Anyway, they try to do their best to catch Danny's murderer.

"Yeah, the whole place has been cleaned. But we've also found another set of prints by the sink. [...] They belong to Mark Latimer."
In this episode, the clear suspect for Danny's murder is his own father, Mark. He's been seen on a CCTV (cameras) footage on the cliff around the time when Danny was murdered. He, who lied about his alibi and pretended that he was working at the time when he was just "with a friend" on the cliff. And now that they found the camping-house where Danny was killed because of his blood and fingerprints found there, Mark is a serious suspect since his fingerprints were found there too. How will the situation get any better for the Latimers especially since Danny's sister has been found with drugs (and possible cash money) ? We will surely find out soon...

Overall impression : Great display of emotions and grief and hopelessness, a truly great episode. Again, I recommend Broadchurch with all my heart.

Okay, so that's it for today ! I hoped you enjoyed this post, and I will see you very soon for another one in this Broadchurch series !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Broadchurch, S1 Ep1

Broadchurch, S1 Ep1

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, here's to the beginning of a new series of posts, #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch ! For the next two weeks, I'll review one episode per day (two on Sundays because of #DoubleSunday), mainly because of the fact that I'm pretty busy right now (studies and stuff). Anyway, let's go for the first review, for the first episode of the first series !

Episode 1

"Have you seen Danny ? He forgot his lunch."
So, the first episode opens on the murder of Daniel Latimer, an eleven-year-old boy from Broadchurch. We can see how devastating his death is for his family, and how they will have to cope with the loss of a child. Beth running towards the beach only to discover the truth, Ellie having to cope with it because her own son was friends with Danny, and basically his entire family who has to live now that he will never come back. The first feeling when grieving is denial (followed by anger, bargaining, depression and acceptance), and Danny's dad wanted to be sure that the body found on the beach was his son's when both Beth and Ellie had recognized him on the crime scene. And the idea of having to live without him is terrifying for the entire family.

"For God's sake ! Bloody Twitter ! These people's lives have been destroyed and now our incompetence has made it worse."
And here's one of the reasons I really hate some journalists. They want the gossip, to be the first one making the frontpage and have the cover and the scoop that nobody else has. We can see Olly (a stupid character that I hate, sorry if you like him), who basically just wants to be a famous journalist and makes the most horrible mistake ever : outing the family and the murder in public... via Twitter. It is only thanks to a Google alert that Danny's sister is informed. Alec Hardy, the detective in charge on the investigation, is now obliged to explain everything to the population because nothing's private anymore. It is a sacrilege to the Latimers who just wanted to mourn Danny's loss in peace without all these greedy people asking for private information and stealing it without their consent.

"There will be no hiding place for Danny's killer. We will catch whoever did this."
Broadchurch is a small town and in this place where evedybody knows everybody, it is easy to say that a lot of people knew Danny Latimer and knew things about him. The ambiance of the show gives the impression that everybody is a suspect, everybody has something to hide, especially that lady in a caravan by the beach and the candy-seller. Even Danny's father doesn't seem to tell all the truth, especially to his own wife (sorry, I think this is spoiling a little, I've seen all series one, so...). Anyway, the investigation, as Alec Hardy said himself, is going to be very complicated...

Overall impression : Great opening to a great show (trust me, I've seen all series one and I am rewatching it to remember everything before watching series two for the first time). A must-watch !

Okay, that's it for today ! I hoped you enjoyed it, and that you'll understand that I can only watch one episode per day. See you soon !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Not knowing where to go

Not knowing where to go

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as today is Sunday, it's time for another #DoubleSunday with a topic I wanted to deal with : not knowing where to go.

Because sometimes, in life, people don't really know what they want to do. They don't want to know what they will study next year, which university they will go to, what job they will take in the future, what career thay planned for the next ten years of their lives.

And it is PERFECTLY OKAY.

However, what is not okay is these people forcing us into choosing our careers at a very young age. When you're supposed to decide fot the rest of your entire life at the age of eleven to fifteen, being pressured into proving to everybody that your choice is valid and can be proven by years of experience in the field (for f*ck sake, they are barely fifteen ! How are they supposed to be working or knowing what they will do for the rest of their lives !).

When I was a kid, I got the very lucky chance to have a mum who let me choose my own decisions in life, and she didn't pressure me into choosing a career at a very young age (I changed my mind many times before finding my idea last year). Now, I am facing entrance exams for business schools (which is terrifying to be honest), and my direct concurrents are people who have prepared something for years (many people still don't know what they will do and I am a part of the few who have a precise project in mind, but that's not the point).

And honestly, I can't get more terrified. I have to prove to people that what I want is valid, must be verified by thousands of experiences that I couldn't get because I didn't know what to do, and my teachers kept telling me that if I can't prove what I want, I would be eaten alive by people who have ten different professional experiences in the field of their dreams. What a mad man was one of them who gave to my class four C.V.s of people who can speak three languages and got ten trips around the world as well as ten different professional experiences in one field they want to work in, without counting the charity work (that I WISH I could do as soon as people if I weren't so busy all the time) and the policital involvment of some of them. I barely started to work last year ! I traveled only with school for short trips ! I am not a goddess of wealth, for f*ck's sake !

Anyway, I just wanted to tell you guys that it is okay if you don't know what to do or where to go. I am now preparing "my case" (many evidence of my will to work in my preferred field, which is obviously the publishing industry), and I am ready to face the business school teachers ! After all, my teachers right now won't be the ones who decide of my future career. They won't be the ones giving me the interview that will allow me, or not, to get in the business school that I want.

And let me tell you something : your middle school/high school teachers and counselors are not the ones telling you what to do. They are here to help you and guide you in times of confusion, not to pressure you into doing something that you don't want to do. As long as you have the guts to do what you want to do (and God knows that the publishing industry is saturated right now), you will always make it. Dedication and strong will can break the hardest of obstacles in life.

Anyway, I hope you enjoyed this post and I will see you very soon for another one !

And as usual, our last word : KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S2 Ep 13

Hannibal, S2 Ep 13

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfHannibal now ends, here is the review for the last episode of season two, Mizumono. (More like Mizumo-nonono-nope-nopity-nope-big-bag-of-nope am I right ?) Anyway, without any further ado, here is the review.

Mizumono

"He'll try to kill you in the kitchen... for convenience. It makes it easier for him to prepare the tartare."
So, we finally arrive in the moment where Jack and Will are planning to catch Hannibal, while he tries to leave with Will at the same time (he still believes he killed Freddie Lounds). We can see with the ticking clock during the whole episode that time is now counted for Hannibal, Jack and Will. Alana is finally involved in the situation (which is good) and Crawford's unit is now on the line to catch the Ripper. The judge doesn't agree with their borderline-illegal methods, but now it is too late : they have been playing a game with Hannibal, and now it's time to close the trap on him...

"We're all desperate for a little hope."
In this episode, we see Bella's situation deteriorating because of her lung cancer. We've seen earlier that Jack doesn't want to give up on her, and she confesses to Hannibal that the only reason for her stay is that she doesn't want to leave him and give up on him like when she tried to commit suicide. There is a parallel with Freddie Lounds who talks about cancer and miracles and her "ressurection" (she's supposed to be dead), and Jack's will to find a cure to save his wife. After all, nobody wants to give up on the people they love, am I right ?

"I let you know me... see me. I gave you a rare gift, but you didn't want it.
- Didn't I ?"
And here come the feels ! Earlier in the show, Will asks himself why Hannibal didn't want to kill him like he killed everybody who discovered the truth, why he had let him "see" him and his true nature. He had confessed to Bedelia that he wanted a friend in Will because "they are alike". In my opinion, there is more to that, but it's personal (and let's be honest, I ship a lot of gay ships, so...). Anyway, when Hannibal told Will that he just wanted to leave with him and Abigail (who was still alive, I don't know why but she survived), it reminds me that earlier in the show, Hannibal and Will both considered Abigail to be their daughter (weren't they her legal guardians though ?). Ah, such dads. And such a sad ending in blood. My life is destroyed FOREVER. *ugly sobbing in corner*

Overall impression : A life-crushing finale for an excellent season, and the wait for the third season will be long, VERY long...

Okay that's it ! This post now officially closes #TwoWeeksOfHannibal ! See you soon for something new... who knows what's next !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S2 Ep 11/12

Hannibal, S2 Ep 11/12

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as this is the "one-before-the-last" post about #TwoWeeksOfHannibal (seriously, there is only ONE episode remaining for season two and I don't know if I'm prepared or not), here is the review for the two next episodes, Ko No Mono and Tome-Wan. So, without any further ado, let's go, shall we ?

Ko No Mono

"You're going to be having some trouble with your lady parts, Margot. I'm afraid the only person you'll be celebrating Mother's Day with... is me."
As we can see in this episode, Mason decides to force an abortion on his sister, even if he wants an heir, a male one (he could have had one but he wants his own, and I think he even implied incest with Margot), because his family is full of sexist pigs that only value males as heirs. Not going to ramble about my feminist opinions about this, but I just wanted to show that in these convervative families where "old values" still prevail, there is not a lot of place for females such as Margot, who has to live with her abusive brother because she knows it's her only way to survive. The Vergers are quite isolated from the rest of the world and it doesn't seem abnormal to them...

"So, how was my funeral ?"
And... this is the point where I lost it. Freddie Lounds isn't dead (I seriously thought she was), this is all a plan, the only murder Will has committed in this season (apart from the Beast) is the man sent by Hannibal to kill him. This had been a plot all along and is still going strong to force Hannibal to show his true nature, and Freddie was a part of it. She seems to enjoy the gossip and participating in a secret stuff (after all, it's Freddie, the one who always looks for stuff she shouldn't look for). And Hannibal seems to believe it and her death, as he doesn't suspect anything... Will that stay the same for long ? I hope so...

"God is beyond measure in wanton malice, and matchless in his irony."
As we can see here, a lot of people lie to each other. Hannibal loses slowly his influence as Will Graham has now convinced Jack Crawford to join his side to catch Hannibal-the Ripper. It is now only a matter of time before Lecter is finally caught, they just have to find a means to achieve this goal. However, not everybody is in the deal, as Alana is left behind and Will makes her feel at her worst as she is his girlfriend. She's left behind while she was the only person that believed him all along, which makes me feel a little bit sad for her (after all, she knows things and she's not that dumb, she could have participated in the plan), but no, she's left out while she had been Will's only friend when no one else wanted to defend him.

Overall impression : Incredible plot twist (I didn't see it coming, seriously !), and great episode. Jack FINALLY moves, God dammit ! Anyway, great episode !

Tome-Wan

"You've taunted him long enough. Let him see you as you truly are.
- Jack has become my friend. I suppose I owe him the truth."
In this episode, Jack and Will keep their plan going, and they want to catch Hannibal committing a crime. They decide to do that on Mason Verger, because Hannibal wants Will to kill him, but Graham thinks that he can turn the tides and make Lecter kill instead. So, he tries to convince him by flattering him and calling his super-big ego to kill him and denounce himself to prove to Jack that he had been the Ripper and the copy-cat all along, to claim the credit for murders he committed like an artist would claim the title of creator of his art. But will Hannibal fall into the trap set for him ?

"Hannibal can get lost in self-congratulation, at his own exquisite taste and cunning. Whimsy. That will be how he will get caught."
And Bedelia Du Maurier returns to explain what happened to her relationship with Hannibal. She said earlier in the show that she was Hannibal's psychiatrist, not the opposite, but she had been influenced by him and even killed the patient that attacked him (he was probably sent by Hannibal), because she thought it was the only solution (even if, technically, she was in position of self-defense). Everybody is influenced by Hannibal, even Bedelia, which shows his skills. But now, the game seems a little bit more even as Jack finally reacts and stops being a puppet in everybody's hands. Now, if only he could stop Hannibal more efficiently, it would be good, right ?

"Pigs did this to you ?
- Oh, yes. The pigs certainly did."
And this is how the episode ends. Mason tries to kill Hannibal, fails because of Will that saves his life, and then is drugged. He gives is own face flesh to Will's dogs and eats his own nose in one of the most gore scenes in the show (seriously, the pain killers must have been damn efficient for him to cut is own flesh so easily without any pain), and Hannibal manipulates him too. Jack then sees him at the hospital (I thought Hannibal had killed him, but not really), and Mason says "Oh, it was the pigs" (which is a result from his hallucinations). I don't think that Jack approved of what happened in the end of the episode since he looks a little bit surprised and, in my opinion, that was not his plan. How will he react to that ? We will know that soon...

Overall impression : Great episode that prepares us to the finale (I am seriously scared of it now, I don't think I will be prepared for it EVER), and great time as always !

Okay, that's it for today ! I hope you enjoyed that post and see you soon for the finale of Hannibal, season two !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S2 Ep 9/10

Hannibal, S2 Ep 9/10

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfHannibal is coming to an end, here is the review for the next two episodes of the second season, Shiizakana and Naka-Choko. So, without any further ado, let's go, shall we ?

Shiizakana

"Must I denounce myself as a monster while you still refuse to see the one growing inside of you ?"
We can see in this episode that Hannibal Lecter still likes to play with his pawns. He is a sort of catalyst for murderers and mental illness sufferers like Will, Myriam or Margot. When you know how many people got to go in his office as patients and never quite left the same, it reminds me of that "pattern" that Bedelia Du Maurier talked about earlier in the show. And of course, Hannibal now has to declare himself before bad things happen to him. But as shown in the beginning of the season, it's bound to happen anyway, am I right ?

"Typhoids and swans. It comes all from the same place."
And, this episode's murderer is... a killer who believes he's an animal ! Wow, we see really bad things here on Hannibal. Anyway, this man teaches us about the basinc instincts of the human race and how we could become animals, or beasts, under special circumstances. I hope this is not too philosophical but my take on this is that he wanted to be as ferocious as the prehistoric beasts and then was manipulated by Hannibal to keep killing. I wonder why Lecter does this, but anyway... I start to believe that this special FBI team collect weird murderers in this TV show. Maybe they will be even more surprised the day when they catch Hannibal Lecter himself...

"I'm riddled with regrets.
- A life without regret would be no life at all."
The deer/Hannibal's impression in Will's mind is still intact in the second season, and we can see that even when he's using his abilities to catch other killers. He still has this instinc of wanting to kill Hannibal Lecter, and while he's trying to find a solution to get him caught, he tries to be his friend to stay unharmed for the moment, because the last time he cried murder, he was sent to jail by Lecter himself, since he's unreachable. That's the reason for which Will expresses his regrets for not pulling the trigger when he had the chance of killing his enemy.

Overall impression : Really great episode, besides the uselessness of the FBI, as usual. Great time though, can't wait to see more !

Naka-Choko

"When you killed Randal, did you fantasize that you were killing me ?"
As I said during the last episode, Will still wants to kill Hannibal, and when he was almost murdered by The Beast, he retaliated and killed him before sending him his corpse as "an even-Steven" situation. In the end of the episode, Will ends up killing Freddie and serves her meat to Hannibal Lecter because she had discovered the truth about him killing the Beast. Hannibal seems proud of what he's done with Will, like a mentor teaching to a student how to kill and become a cannibal ? Cannibal 101, by Hannibal Lecter ? That is a lesson I won't attend, thank you very much.

"I can't tell you what Margot's confessed to me. Fortunately for you, I can't tell anyone."
We can see that in this episode, Margot gets to see Will Graham in his own house to talk about Hannibal Lecter. It appears that Lecter influences Margot to kill her brother, and she's decided to talk about it with Will to see if his situation is the same (and of course it is !). Hannibal gets to see Mason, Margot's brother, and buys a pig. Mason seems to be a sort-of psychopath or something because feeding human flesh to pigs locked in a maze is not really decent. As a vegetarian, I personnally felt really nauseous when watching that part of the episode.

"Whatever it is you're playing, Hannibal, you have to listen very carefully to what you're creating."
Last but not least, I wanted to talk about that very weird sex scene in the middle of the episode (I'm very confused about sex in general, don't mind me). There are too many "relationships" in this TV show that I start to believe that it's just casual sex ! Anyway, after Will/Alana, we have since a couple of episodes Alana/Hannibal and Will/Margot. What will we get next ? I don't know, but I'm sure that all the things will change in the next couple of episodes... and maybe, if I can interpret things, we can see that Will saw Alana when he was with Margot and it bugs me because she was a great friend and support when he was in jail ? Like I thought that she could have been a lifeboat for him when he felt lost ? Anyway, got to end here before I go too far !

Overall impression : Now we see Will lying about his own murders and using his own gift to make himself look innocent, just like Hannibal... He's turning like him and I'm curious to know what will happen to him next... Great time anyway !

Okay, that's it for today ! I hoped you enjoyed this post and I will see you soon for the next one !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S2 Ep 7/8

Hannibal, S2 Ep 7/8

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as we keep going on #TwoWeeksOfHannibal, here is the review for the next two episodes of season two, Yakimono and Su-zakana. So, without any further ado, let's go, shall we ?

Yakimono

"You and I are part of his design. He wanted you to be free, wanted me to be free too.
- Neither of us are really free. He's not done."
In this episode, as we see Myriam (I hope it's written that way) getting her arm replaced. We can see that she was manipulated by the Ripper (Hannibal, let's say it that way) until she completely was brainwashed. She hasn't recognized him when he got inteviewed by Alana Bloom and accused Frederick Chilton of being the Ripper. She even used her gun to kill him. We can see that Hannibal Lecter is the master of manipulating people and that he's not likely to stop. Will Graham is then told that he won't be really free until the Ripper is finally stopped. But as we have seen in the beginning of the season, there will be a fight scene between Jack Crawford and Hannibal Lecter. But when will it happen ? We will see it in this season...

"I have the same profile as Hannibal Lecter, same medical and psychological background. We are both doctors of note in our field. Of course, it would be me."
As I said, Myriam accused Chilton of being the Ripper. The accusations were already a rumour in the Bureau, but as Hannibal has brainwashed her, it was easy for him to make her believe that Chilton was the Ripper. Then, he gets manipulated as well, when he had his doubts but played the game not to be noticed, and then got accused of the murder of Gideon that occured in his house along with the murder of numerous police officers killed by Lecter himself. Obviously, the two men were so similar in position and body type that Myriam got manipulated to accuse the wrong person and shoot him so that he doesn't talk anymore.

"I have to deal with you and my feelings about you. I think it's best if I do that directly."
Last but not least, we can see Will Graham going back into therapy in this episode, and he said that he didn't want to kill Hannibal anymore. Maybe a new strategy of being more malicious and less upfront will allow him to breach the defenses in Hannibal's plan to get him and see the truth given to the world, and the authorities. We can see that Will has evolved since the beginning of the show, that he's more assured and more self-concious. He now stops shouting at everything and has started to plot things mre seriously. Maybe this strategy will be more effective ? While he works on the truth, he went back to work and tries his best to go back to a "similar"life.

Overall impression : Good turn on the plot after all the revelation done in the last episode, and noticeable ending that was really thrilling !

Su-zakana

"I don't wanna kill you, Dr. Lecter. Not now that I finally find you interesting."
In this episode, we can see that there is a new dynamics between Hannibal, Jack, Alana and Will. Jack now suspects Hannibal, Will keeps making allusions to cannibals right in front of Hannibal, Alana is more and more distant, not only with Will but also with Jack because of her new relationship with Hannibal *God did I cringe so hard at the sex scene*... I feel like Crawford's character is less and less present in the show, that he's just here as a filler and that he just goes along whatever happens to him. He accepts Hannibal's judgment as truth without questioning it and it bugs me a lot.

"Peter... is your social worker inside that horse ?"
And it's time for the murderer of this episode : someone who sewed (and I don't know if it's biologically possible) a living bird inside a dead man inside a dead horse. I don't know the bird survived for hours without any air, but anyway, the killer was an employee at a petshop (if it's the word) that had been manipulated by his social worker. The manipulator almost got killed by Will if not for the intervention of Hannibal. Anyway, a lot of life and death philosophical references are thrown around, as usual. When the two FBI agents freaked out because they thought the victim had a heartbeat, and thus was still alive, I couldn't believe my ears, God damn it. Are these people that bad in the FBI sometimes ?

"I'm a good fisherman, Jack.
- You hook 'em, I'll land 'em."
And the last point of this episode is a new character, Margot (I checked out the spelling so I wasn't wrong), a woman abused by a man who wanted to see him dead. I think it's important to talk about her since she's quite mysterious and maybe will be the center of discussion of coming episodes ? I chose this quote to end this review, however, just to show that Jack is ready to do anything to get work done, even not by himself, and conforms to any opinion as long as they are valid. What will people think about Margot if she becomes a murderer ? I think that knowing that will be only a matter of time...

Overall impression : Another good episode, new characters that intrigue me, and even if the FBI gets on my nerves sometimes, it was a great episode.

Okay guys, that's ot for this post ! I hoped you liked it and I will see you very soon for the next one !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S2 Ep 5/6

Hannibal, S2 Ep 5/6

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfHannibal keeps going, here's the review for the next two episodes of the second season, Mukozuke and Futamono. So, without any further ado, let's get started, shall we ?

Mukozuke

"She met the Ripper last night, Jack. She will be missing organs. He had to take his trophies."
As I predicted (which was fairly obvious in the end of the last episode), Beverly was killed by the Ripper - by Hannibal Lecter. She was cut into pieces and her ghost now haunts Will Graham, because he had been the one to warn him about Hannibal and had advised her to avoid him as much as possible now feels responsible for her death. When her body has to be analysed by her own colleagues, they don't want to grieve too much as it was her wish. But we can see that Jack Crawford, once again, lost one of his colleagues and he must be really upset himself.

"He sent me to kill you, Abel.
- Am I your evidence ? Oh, you're in trouble, Mr. Graham."
I thought that Gideon was dead, but apparently, he isn't ??? Anyway, now he is in the same facility as Will Graham, and Will discusses about how he was manipulated by Hannibal to kill him. That's how he had found him so easily after he left Lecter's office. After all, he hadn't remembered seeing Abel in the office, so it's plausible that he had been sent by Hannibal himself to kill him. But apparently, he missed his shot and Gideon survived. Anyway, for him, the only way the Ripper can be stopped now is by killing him. And Will won't refuse the taste of revenge after all the things that happened to him recently...

"I'm always happy to do a favour for a friend, just say the word.
- I want you to kill Hannibal Lecter."
As we see in this episode, there is an admirer for Will Graham, and he was the one that had sent him the ear (but he didn't kill the judge, apparently). He is so fascinated by him because he believes that he is the Ripper that he would do anything to please him. Obviously, Will takes his chance and asks for Hannibal to be killed. He could have died if not for Jack Crawford and Alana Bloom who saved his life at the very last minute. We don't know what happened to him next, but the consequences for Will will be terrible, in my opinion... Also, how is Hannibal going to react to this murder attempt ? We will know soon...

Overal impression : Great episode, with a lot of suspense, especially in the end. The FBI is getting closer to Hannibal and maybe he will be catched soon ? Anyway, great time.

Futamono

"If the Ripper is killing, you can bet Hannibal Lecter is having a dinner party. You and I probably sipped wine while swallowing the people who we were trying to give justice, Jack."
In this episode, as Will tries to convince Jack that Hannibal is the Ripper, we can see him starting to believe him. After all, he hasn't left the prison since he was arrested, how could he know that Lecter was throwing a dinner party ? After Beverly's murder, he decides to go there, but only to take some "food" to be analysed. In the episode, we have seen that Hannibal has killed again to provide the "meat" to his guests. He finally finds out after a minutious inspection that the Ripper and the copycat were one and the same (that's what Will had tried to explain since the beginning, I start to believe that the police here are SO F*CKING SLOW) and that Will is innocent (better be free soon with a lot of excuses. I personnaly would punch everybody who hasn't believed me in the f*cking face a couple of times, just to be sure they don't do it ever again). He then finds Myriam, his former trainee, in the end of the episode ; what will happen next is for the following episodes, I guess.

"My compliments to the chef."
In this episode, we can see more guilt coming from Will as he is haunted by Beverly's ghost. He tries his way out with the help of Gideon, or even gets interviewed by Freddie in exchange for exclusive rights for his story. However, the guards push Gideon off the stairs (to kill him or just to hurt him ? I don't know), and he ends up with a fractured spine. His guards are then killed by Hannibal and displayed with the Ripper-style (but with evidence like the copycat, that's why Jack could deduce they were one only person). Abel is then held hostage by Lecter and forced to eat his own flesh as a last meal. In the end, Hannibal likes to play with fire : he wants to be seen but not to be arrested for his crimes as he wants to keep doing them unnoticed.

"I'll give Alana Bloom your best. Goodbye, Will."
And, last but not least, the very shocking information of this episode (at the very least for me) is the fact that after a little hook-up with Will, Alana Bloom now hooks up with Hannibal Lecter ??? Anyway, she even gives him an alibi for the night when he went to kill the guards and kidnap him, right in front of Jack Crawford. Anyway, we won't judge her for what she does, and just appreciate the footage of Mads shirtless in bed. Am I right guys ??? And that's how we also appreciate for the last two episodes Hannibal playing the piano and composing his own music. I mean, I wish I could do that, but with my very little practice of the piano, that won't be likely to happen anytime soon.

Overall impression : Another great cliffhanger, that concludes half of this season, and I am as eager as Will to taste his freedom and sweet, sweet revenge... *plots the most horrible torture and murders possible in only 0.3 seconds*. Anyway, great time !

Okay, that's it for today, I hoped you enjoyed this post, and I will see you very soon.

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S2 Ep 3/4

Hannibal, S2 Ep 3/4

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfHannibal continues, here we are for the review of the next episodes in the second season, Hassun and Takiawase. So let's get started, shall we ?

Hassun

"Will hated every second of the work, he hated it. He didn't fake that, he hated and I kept him making him do it."
For the first time, Jack Crawford publicly admits his guilt for having let Will Graham in the field despite all the things that happened to him during the last few months. As he also tries his best to save his wife still struggling with a lung cancer, he is torn between his duty for his friend, grieving his wife, having to deal with Hannibal Lecter, his own agent disobeying him, and many more. I believe that because he can't save his wife, he tries his best to keep Will Graham at bay, and using the excuse "he was saving lives" is enough to him to have kept him at work. One life broken, but how many saved, according to him ?

"When the fox hears the rabbit scream, he comes running - but not to help."
The fact that this sentence was said by Hannibal Lecter himself makes me wonder : that the help he provided to Will Graham was not to help him, but indeed to manipulate him as a puppet in his hands, because like all his victims, he likes playing a character and transforming others in characters as well. That's the reason for which he is so fascinated not only by the exposure of crimes themselves, but by the killers themselves, because he believes that "the whole world is a big scene". Can't we see a similar sentence elsewhere ?

"I let you know me, see me. I gave you a rare gift, but you didn't want it."
The last very important point of this episode is the trial, obviously. Not only it is biased because of the judges firmly believing that Will is indeed guilty of the murders he was accused of, but the lawyers supposedly defending Graham come for the major part from the FBI. Add a psychiatrist that doesn't trust him and might me working with Hannibal (if not manipulated by him too), and you have a brilliant idea of the American justice. As someone who's French, I've always seen this kind of trials as a show-off : who has the best arguments, the best evidence, the best lawyers can win. Injustice is thus prevalent. Please tell me if I'm wrong.

Overall impression : Very good episode, but I feel like the more I watch, the more I see the FBI agents as blind puppets in Hannibal's hands. Anyway, great time !

Takiawase

"Don't say Hannibal Lecter.
- I'm saying Hannibal Lecter."
As we see more and more murders happening still even when the accused, Will Graham himself, is locked in jail, we can't keep joking around and I thought that Hannibal would be sort-of monitored or inspected. But not at all ! Another persona is created. It is believed that a second copycat is running in the wild. When you know that the copycat has been running all along, I can't wait for the formal apologies done to Will not only because of this false accusations, but also because of the bad treatment he recieved at the FBI for the past months, causing his mental health to deteriorate. However, as Will tries to be heard when saying the truth, he is still not believed, and for him, that's the most frustrating thing that could happen to him.

"He was inducing the seizures, he was encouraging them. The blackouts, the lost time... it was strategic, it was planned."
In this episode, we can also see Will Graham recovering some memories (I'm pretty sure that some others will come along the way). We now know that Hannibal purposedly did things that are pretty questionable to him (such as creating encephalitis) and that he was more organized that everybody thought he was. We can see when he keeps killing (another body shoved in antlers, might be him), and *I think* sends him an ear to kind-of reminding of what he has done. After the really bad memory of Abigail's ear shoved down his throat, we can see more bad stuff Hannibal has done to him. But to what extent did it go ? What about Abigail's body ? I think we will discover that soon...

"The Chesapeake Ripper kept surgical trophies. If Hannibal's the Ripper, what he's doing with his trophies ?
- He's eating them."
And the big revelation of this episode is... well, not a revelation. But now Will knows that Hannibal is the Ripper, and that he eats his victims. I suggest that if some stomach analysis are done, we could see human remains, right ? Anyway, Beverly Katz (I found her name again) is now in a dangerous position after going unnoticed in Hannibal's house and discovering some organs. What a cliffhanger to end with ! I think that she will go into a lot of trouble... And when we know that if she had left the house unnoticed and brought back the organs to Jack, everything could have been corrected. But I don't think that will happen...

Overall impression : Another great episode, but what a cliffhanger ! I will see the rest soon, but I don't know what I would hae done if I had had to wait for an entire week to see the rest.

Okay, that's it for today ! I hoped you enjoyed this post and I will see you very soon !

And as usual, our last word : KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S2 Ep 1/2

Hannibal, S2 Ep 1/2

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, now it's time for the second week of #TwoWeeksOfHannibal as I am going to review the second season. So, without any further ado, let's get started with the two first episodes of the season, Kaiseki and Sakizuke. So let's go !

Kaiseki

"Kaiseki. A Japanese art form that honors the taste and aesthetic of what we eat."
In this episode, Hannibal Lecter shows once again his passion for culinary things ans keeps showing off his skills. In this season, Japanese gastronomy was the one chosen to name the episodes, and Hannibal decides to cook Japanese dishes to keep impressing people around him. However, knowing Lecter's cannibalistic tendencies, wa could ask ourselves if he isn't also talking about his murders and the "human meat" he's consuming in his everyday life. Indeed, no matter what he does, he does it with calm and concision. But how long will he be able to keep this reputation, knowing that his own psychiatrist suspects what he does now ? (note to self : I dealt with this point previously, what a coincidence...)

"I'm not the intelligent psychopath you've been looking for."
While Will Graham is kept locked in his cell, waiting for his trial, nobody believes him. He lost the trust of Jack Crawford, Alana Bloom tries desperately to make him innocent and Hannibal, as usual, "tries" to help him. However, that doesn't prevent him from keeping his work for the FBI as one of Crawford's employees reaches to him to solve another series of murders, without Jack's permission. And without using his ability, Will sees the murderer's pattern : a palet of colours. (another note : feels like Will is more competent than any FBI agent that was given the job for supposed qualifications...)

"You're not my friend. The light from friendship won't reach us in a million years. That's how away from friendship we are."
In this episode, we can also see the confrontation between Will Graham and Hannibal Lecter, as the latter is the one reponsible for the imprisonement of the former. Not only Lecter likes showing off, it seems he also likes to play a sort of chess with real people as pawns he can move against his opponents to keep his secrets and use his influence to stay out of trouble. Lecter is shown as the person everybody believes instantly and trusts unconditionally, while Graham has a Cassandra-esque role where nobody believes him despite his calls for a fair judgment and a proper hearing in front of the authorities.

Overall impression : A great episode built on tension, I don't know what prevented Will fron telling Jack about the ear shovelled into his throat by Lecter (but maybe he thought not to be believed again). Anyway, great episode.

Sakizuke

"Will Graham is either delusional or a psychopath, neither of which I can trust."
Everybody has eyes on Will now. As he haw become the center of attention, he has lost Jack's trust even when he keeps helping the FBI solving murders. Not being trusted and staying alone with his demons is quite difficult for Will, but at the very least, his dogs (what he considers his family) are taken care of by Alana Bloom, who is quite the only person still believing that he wasn't actively a murderer and that the FBI put him in dangerous situations. Since the beginning of the first season, she had warned Jack of the consequences of Will's return on the field for him, and now, Jack has to pay for the consequences as well. An internal investigation is even done to see what could be wrong with Crawford's team... But as predicted, nothing is to be blamed on Hannibal's side.

"If God is looking down on you, don't you want to be looking back at him ?"
And as usual, this week's case is... someone killing people to make the shape of an eye "thanks to" their skin complex ! As the scenes now are more and more graphic, Hannibal uses this series of murders to kill the murderer (that will be discovered by Will later), and continue his work of copycat. Maybe this is the thing that will betrau Lecter in the end : if Graham is in jail and there are "several" copycats going into the wild and doing what Will was accused of, maybe that will restart the investigations... Let's hope that Hannibal's true nature will be discovered soon.

"And the conclusion that I've drawn is that you are dangerous."
Hannibal's psychiatrist, Dr. Bedelia Du Maurier, ends up telling Hannibal that she finds him quite dangerous, and adds that their relationship as a psychiatrist and patient is now over. She doesn't want to talk to him anymore and even goes up to see Crawford to tell him what happened. As I said before, I believe that she kowns some things (or at the ery least suspects them), and she tries to withdraw herself from the situation before it's too late. In the end of the episode, she even goes up to Will just to tell him "I believe you.", which means that she has now taken his side in the trial that is now bound to happen soon and that could lead him to the death penalty because of the murders he was accused of. This character is in my opinion, going to change the situation quite soon...

Overal impression : Another great episode, the ending was spectacular and it leaves me as always wanting for more ! The God references also teach us a lot about the human behaviour...

Okay, that's it for today ! I hope you enjoyed this post and I will see you soon for the following one !

And as usual, out last word... KIDNEYS !

"We accept the love we think we deserve."

"We accept the love we think we deserve."

(Stephen Chbosky, The Perks Of Being A Wallflower)

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as a part of #DoubleSunday (the only day when I write two posts instead of one), I decided to comment on this quote and tell you what I feel about this. I read many interpretations of this really fascinating quote, yet I haven't found an opinion that's strictly mine, so I thought you wouldn't mind if I talked about it for a while.

In my opinion, there are different kinds of people, when it comes to relationships, and I am going to talk very generally by using stereotypes. Of course nobody will really fit into one of this clichés completely, but it's to ease the task. So, we have different frames :

- The person with a high sense of self/who believes to be the ruler of the world or a really important person with high values and standards : of course, this kind of people won't settle easily for anybody who wouldn't treat them like the supposed ruler that they are, and obviously are less likely to end up in a relationship that will be abusive for them. But in certain cases, people with such an inflated ego will end up alone, not because of their standards, but because they will have be turned down by everybody else. In my opinion, especially in a relationship, modesty and share is one of the main keys to success. But again, it is just my opinion.

- The person with a moderate sense of self : for most people, love/relationships will have a normal course. Of course falling in love is the best feeling and having to part is the worst, but after all, we all are humans with feelings and a complexity that not everybody can grasp. In this case, people will be the least likely to end alone, because they know what's right for them and what's wrong, and they will fit for most cases in the normality of relationships.

- The person with a low sense of self/a really poor self-esteem : this person is the most likely to have a troubled past, a history of rejection or just a really poor self-esteem. As we humans are social and political animals, social and human interaction is vital for us to maintain our sanity and humanity. This kind of people, sadly, sometimes don't know what's right or wrong for them, as they will settle for an abusive love, often because they believe that they don't deserve any better. They are also more likely to end up alone because of their numerous stories of rejection, which leads them to believe that they aren't worthy of love or anything remotely close to that.

Alright, long post but that's what I wanted to say today ! I hoped you enjoyed this post and I will see you very soon as we continue our #TwoWeeksOfHannibal with the second season !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S1 Ep 13

Hannibal, S1 Ep 13

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, the first week of #TwoWeeksOfHannibal ends now with the very last episode of the first season, Savoureux. So without any further ado, let's get started !

Savoureux

"Perhaps you didn't come here looking for a killer. Perhaps you came here to find yourself."
We all know that Hannibal told Will this sentence, but could we take a moment to turn it back and say that, maybe, Hannibal came here to admire his own work and what he accomplished ? As far as we know it, Lecter is prone to show-off, especially his culinary skills (made with humans, may I remind you)... And when he visits Will in the end of the episode, he plays epic opera mucis in his head, as a reminder of his pride in killing and accusing everybody else. He is really interested in making his life a masterpiece as much as he likes watching others (operas or murders, which inclines him to the most dangerous patients)... Just a thought...

"You're alone because you're unique.
- I'm as alone as you are."
As this is the final episode, we can see Hannibal's last move to accuse Will of his own murders. He spent days hiding human remains in his fish lures, manipulating and lying to everybody. Here, as he goes to Minnesota with Will, he is finally discovered and identified. However, as he kept everybody under his influence, he sends him to jail and makes accused by Jack Crawford of several murders. He even lied to his own psychiatrist about the fact that he wanted to help him - I don't know about you but I have two thoughts about this : either she knows about his murders (which is in my opinion quite clear), or he tries to convince her not to tell anything. In both cases, they are both in trouble, in my opinion...

"You have no traceable motive... which was why you were so hard to see."
This last episode also concludes the mystery of the deer that appeared during the whole season. Hannibal was indeed the deer hiding in Will's hallucinations and dreams as he was trying to figure out the real identity of the copycat of the murderers shown in the recently treated cases. I Googled myself the symbolism of the deer to understand why this animal had been chosen to represent Hannibal, and I found words along the lines of gentleness, intuition, sensibility, grace, and many others. It shows that not only Hannibal wanted to show himself with this traits, but that he has spent many years, and still does, hides behind this mask that he wants nobody to see behind.

Overall impression : A really great finale, in tone with the rest of the season, and may I end with a French word for it ? I don't have the translation in English, but may I say it was... grandiose.

Okay, that's it for this season of Hannibal ! See you soon for the second one !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !

Hannibal, S1 Ep 11/12

Hannibal, S1 Ep 11/12

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as the first week of #TwoWeeksOfHannibal comes to an end (wow, I never realised how time goes fast !), here is the review for the two following episodes of Hannibal, Rôti and Relevés.

Rôti

"You look like hell, Will.
- I feel like hell. Actually, I feel kin of fluid. Like I'm spilling."
In this episode, we can see once again Will Graham's deteriorating situation, as he now hallucinates pratically all the time and even sees Hobbs very often. Jack Crawford is worried for him and tries to show his sympathy, but it doesn't stop the constant thinking. Alana Bloom tries to talk to him about that, but he tries to go back to the field even he now has a fever and is constantly somewhere else instead of being able to focus in the moment?

"I don't know if I will ever be myself again."
In this episode, the supposed Ripper (Gideon) that was manipulated by his psychiatrist to believe he was the serial killer tries to understand what happened to him and why his own identity and personality was taken away from him. Will has to think about this himself as he slowly is more influenced by the minds he has to analyse in his job at the FBI and, as I said earlier in this season, he will maybe one day kill without thinking about it, just because he believes he is another person... But how long will he hold on before he eventually snaps out ?

"I see myself in Will.
- Do you see yourself in his madness ?"
To end this episode, Will catches Gideon and drives him to Hannibal's house, for no apparent reason. Hannibal tells him that he should visit all his psychiatrists, since they would be the reason for his identity loss. He suggests to go first at Alana's, which he does. As Will has a seizure and doesn't remember anything, he is then manipulated by Hannibal (hadn't I written that this would happen a little bit earlier in the show ?). Anyway, Will believes he arrived alone becaue he saw Hobbs instead of Gideon, and Kecter benefited from this fact to make him believe there was nobody and that he was hallucinating Hobbs. He still finds Gideon later and kills him before he enters Alana's house to kill her. At the very least something good happened here, in my opinion...

Overall impression : Really breath-taking, the speed of the season is now accelerating as there are only two episodes left. Hannibal's cunning is frightening, yet really intelligent...

Relevés

"You made me chicken soup ?"
In the begining of the episode, Will Graham ends up at the hospital because of a seizure he had that made him kill the accused to save Alana Bloom's life. Hannibal, as a gentleman he is *huge cringing here*, serves him some "chicken soup" (even if I don't trust him to serve non-human meat anymore). However, he continues his quest for the truth and goes to great lengths to discover the true identity of the Ripper, and makes connections between the copycats they investigated on, believing that they are only one person (which is true because we are talking about Hannibal Lecter here). He checks himself out of the hospital, takes Abigail with him, and shows dangerous actions to achive his new goals.

"I wanted to see how much like your father you were."
Abigail Hobbs, as we can see, is not that innocent. After "fishing" for the girls killed by her father and her murder on an innocent person that she hid from the police with Hannibal's help, she tries to write a book with Freddie's encouragements. She tells Will everything about what happened and feels extremely guilty, but she leaves him to go to Hannibal's house and also tell him what happen with Graham, since thay are now accomplices. Hannibal keeps using her and will soon do his last move, in my opinion : accuse Graham of all the crimes he committed to go away with it and leave a disoriented, messed up and powerless Will Graham in jail...

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you in this life."
This episode ends with Hannibal's revelation to Abigail about his true identity as the Ripper and, as she now fears for her life, she now knows she's about to get killed by Hannibal (as it is obviously suggested by this sentence that ends the episode in the most irritating cliffhanger ever in the show). Indeed, he copied the serial killers they were investigating on, bur what for ? If he wants attention, maybe he wants Will's reaction... We can now only wonder what can happen in the next episode, which is going to be the last for this season.

Overall impression : Wow, THAT was a epic end and plot twist ! I am SO pumped up for the finale and I am really excited to see how everythig is going to end !

Okay, that's it for today, I hoped you enjoyed this post. See you soon for the finale !

And as always, our last word... KIDNEYS !
