Hannibal, S1 Ep 11/12

Hannibal, S1 Ep 11/12

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as the first week of #TwoWeeksOfHannibal comes to an end (wow, I never realised how time goes fast !), here is the review for the two following episodes of Hannibal, Rôti and Relevés.

Rôti

"You look like hell, Will.
- I feel like hell. Actually, I feel kin of fluid. Like I'm spilling."
In this episode, we can see once again Will Graham's deteriorating situation, as he now hallucinates pratically all the time and even sees Hobbs very often. Jack Crawford is worried for him and tries to show his sympathy, but it doesn't stop the constant thinking. Alana Bloom tries to talk to him about that, but he tries to go back to the field even he now has a fever and is constantly somewhere else instead of being able to focus in the moment?

"I don't know if I will ever be myself again."
In this episode, the supposed Ripper (Gideon) that was manipulated by his psychiatrist to believe he was the serial killer tries to understand what happened to him and why his own identity and personality was taken away from him. Will has to think about this himself as he slowly is more influenced by the minds he has to analyse in his job at the FBI and, as I said earlier in this season, he will maybe one day kill without thinking about it, just because he believes he is another person... But how long will he hold on before he eventually snaps out ?

"I see myself in Will.
- Do you see yourself in his madness ?"
To end this episode, Will catches Gideon and drives him to Hannibal's house, for no apparent reason. Hannibal tells him that he should visit all his psychiatrists, since they would be the reason for his identity loss. He suggests to go first at Alana's, which he does. As Will has a seizure and doesn't remember anything, he is then manipulated by Hannibal (hadn't I written that this would happen a little bit earlier in the show ?). Anyway, Will believes he arrived alone becaue he saw Hobbs instead of Gideon, and Kecter benefited from this fact to make him believe there was nobody and that he was hallucinating Hobbs. He still finds Gideon later and kills him before he enters Alana's house to kill her. At the very least something good happened here, in my opinion...

Overall impression : Really breath-taking, the speed of the season is now accelerating as there are only two episodes left. Hannibal's cunning is frightening, yet really intelligent...

Relevés

"You made me chicken soup ?"
In the begining of the episode, Will Graham ends up at the hospital because of a seizure he had that made him kill the accused to save Alana Bloom's life. Hannibal, as a gentleman he is *huge cringing here*, serves him some "chicken soup" (even if I don't trust him to serve non-human meat anymore). However, he continues his quest for the truth and goes to great lengths to discover the true identity of the Ripper, and makes connections between the copycats they investigated on, believing that they are only one person (which is true because we are talking about Hannibal Lecter here). He checks himself out of the hospital, takes Abigail with him, and shows dangerous actions to achive his new goals.

"I wanted to see how much like your father you were."
Abigail Hobbs, as we can see, is not that innocent. After "fishing" for the girls killed by her father and her murder on an innocent person that she hid from the police with Hannibal's help, she tries to write a book with Freddie's encouragements. She tells Will everything about what happened and feels extremely guilty, but she leaves him to go to Hannibal's house and also tell him what happen with Graham, since thay are now accomplices. Hannibal keeps using her and will soon do his last move, in my opinion : accuse Graham of all the crimes he committed to go away with it and leave a disoriented, messed up and powerless Will Graham in jail...

"I'm sorry I couldn't protect you in this life."
This episode ends with Hannibal's revelation to Abigail about his true identity as the Ripper and, as she now fears for her life, she now knows she's about to get killed by Hannibal (as it is obviously suggested by this sentence that ends the episode in the most irritating cliffhanger ever in the show). Indeed, he copied the serial killers they were investigating on, bur what for ? If he wants attention, maybe he wants Will's reaction... We can now only wonder what can happen in the next episode, which is going to be the last for this season.

Overall impression : Wow, THAT was a epic end and plot twist ! I am SO pumped up for the finale and I am really excited to see how everythig is going to end !

Okay, that's it for today, I hoped you enjoyed this post. See you soon for the finale !

And as always, our last word... KIDNEYS !
