Broadchurch, S1 Ep7

Broadchurch, S1 Ep7

Hi everybody, Mary here.

So, as #TwoWeeksOfBroadchurch is about to end its first week, here is the review for the seventh episode in the first series. So without any further ado, here it comes !

Episode 7

"Then why is Susan saying otherwise ? [about Danny's murder] What's she got to harass you about ?
- She says she's my mum."
In this episode, as we learn more about Susan's story about an abusive husband that accused her of helping him in the crimes committed to their children, which cost her the loss of their custody, we also learn that Nigel is her son and that she had "harassed" him because she wanted to know him (even if I have to admit that she's a little bit crazy, creepy and impulsive). Nigel is accused by his owm mom of Danny's murder (why ? It is not necessarily explained in the episode), and is held in custody in order to know if he's the murderer or not. But is he the murderer or is it only Susan's vengeance (or something else, I don't know) ?

"She decieved you ? This detective sergeant.
- She was my wife. We have a daughter and I didn't want her knowing that about her mother.
- So you took the blame."
As Alec Hardy teaches us about Sandbrooke, he tells us the sroty about the fact that his wife lost evidence with which they could have won the trial, but instead, he had taken the blame and lost all respect from everybody, even his own daughter, just to save his wife's reputation. During years, he has endured the hatred from the press and he now wants to tell the truth to the Herald, in order to make things clear, with the only condition that his wife is not named clearly in the article. Also, we can see that these journalists just want to make some scooprs out of anything remotely sensational ; in this case, Alec's heart problems. They don"t respect people's lives and privacy as long as they can make money out of it, which in my opinion, is disgusting.

"Where's his computer ?
- El, it's half two in the morning."
We can also see in that episode that Tom's computer is quite important. Indeed, he deleted important messages from Danny and wants to be sure that the information is never found again. He had even asked the Reverend (who teaches computer classes) if this kind of information can be found even if "deleted" by someone. As Paul Coates had said that you could still find them, Tom had tried to destroy his computer, and now, the investigation needs it in order to save the case. But will ther find the information or is it too late ? They may find it on Danny's phone since they have it...

Overall impression : Another great episode, can't wait for the finale ! Also, the killer may be a surprise for all, so... warning !

Okay, that's it for this post ! #DoubleSunday will keep going today with another post a little bit later ! And in general, I will see you soon with another post !

And as usual, our last word... KIDNEYS !
